This paper aims to provide a Muslim perspective on the concept of individual responsibility by using welfare provision as an example.
We will start by explaining the concept of amanah (trust), arguing that its proper understanding will create individual empowerment, and in turn it will lead to individuals who are responsible for themselves.
This paper was written as a discussion material and is still in ‘bullet-point’ form. The authors welcome comments and suggestions before it becomes a final piece.
